Young Youghal native to take on skydive for charity!

Young Youghal native Tara Murphy is doing something daring and all for a great cause! Read on to find out how you can support her.

My name is Tara Murphy. I’m currently in college studying Theoretical Physics and have lived in Youghal my whole life.

I’ve been volunteering this Summer for an amazing charity called Mary’s Meals. I first heard about them when they approached my mum about holding an event in the Town Hall, where they screened two short films, which can be found here.

They are a truly phenomenal organisation, who work in developing countries, feeding 1.5 million children all around the world in their place of education.

My main aim this Summer is to raise awareness for the charity down here in Cork, as well as raise as much money as I can. My friend Kate and I have currently raised enough money to feed 26 school children for a whole year. We have held several events, including bake sales, selling chocolate and we completed the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon in Dublin this Summer for Mary’s Meals.

I will be doing a skydive on August 18 in aid for Mary’s Meals! The link to a fundraising page can be found here, where people can directly donate to the charity.

The team at Youghal News wish Tara all the best!
