Youghal’s regeneration graph is set to continue its upward trend as work commences on the construction of 44 luxury town homes and apartments on the site of the former Loreto Convent on Lighthouse Hill, writes Christy Parker.
Bids are now being taken for the initial tranche of properties at Ashton Court as the gated complex, which backs onto Golf Links Road, will be known. Prices for the 1, 2, and 3-bedroom homes range from €210,000 (708 sq. ft.) to €600,000 (2,088 sq. ft.).
Designed by architects Meitheal Design partners (formerly PLM), and promising “luxury coastal living”, Ashton Court will be predominantly divided across two distinct facilities, namely Hyde House and Bellevue House.
The centrepiece Hyde House will comprise seven exclusively built town houses within the preserved facade of the former nuns’ quarters & school.
Bellevue House will consist of 25 high end apartments on the site of the 1970’s classrooms annexe to the right of the grounds.
The remaining homes will be built to the left of the main entrance to the site. Throughout the complex, the ornate and decorative craftsmanship, where viable, will be preserved.
The quarters, with controlled entrance, will overlook landscaped communal gardens and come with a central electric vehicle charging point.
Residents will enjoy superb dawns breaking behind the hills of west Waterford and spectacular views of the Blackwater exiting past the beach towards the open sea.
